Self Improvement Resources

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Have just come across this great resource page on self improvement and truly getting to know oneself. Wow, we all know what a challenge that can be!

In 1971, in a hotel ballroom in San Francisco over 35 years ago, transformation burst on to the national stage. Werner Erhard and his est Training brought to the forefront the ideas of transformation, personal responsibility, accountability, and possibility – and over the next decade, over a million people “Got it”.

Over the years, more than two million people from all walks of life participated in est or the programs that grew out of Erhard Seminars Training. Professionals and leaders from government, business and health industries, as well as people in the fields of arts and entertainment actively participated in the programs of est.

Enjoy the essence of what est created and the impact it has made on society through the archives, video and vivid shares on this site. Stand up and acknowledge how you have made a difference in this world out of having participated in the est Training. Celebrate in this tribute to the est Training, Werner Erhard and you.

The whole basis for the  training was to go down through layer, after layer, after layer, until you got to the last layer and peeled it off where the recognition was that it’s really all empty and meaningless. That’s Existentialism’s endpoint. Est went a step further. All of the rules you place on yourself are gone and what you are left with is nothing, and nothing is an extraordinarily powerful place to stand because it is only from nothing that you can create. It is also the basis of real integrity because it leaves you responsible for your actions and their consequences. To Read More Please Visit  his site below -

Panick Attacks Cure | Anxiety Symptoms

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Part 1             ”The Fear Is Always There.. When Will The Next Panic Attack Strike Me?”

Looking for effective easy to follow steps regarding anxiety can be difficult to find. Phycologists can cost you a fortune. My recent search for something that ordinary people could truly got great results from, lead me to this successful easy to do technique  developed by someone who previously suffered severe attacks himself.

You will be amazed at how such a simple technique known as the One Move Technique could be so powerful in restoring you back to your former care free self. I am not only talking about eliminating panic attacks but also getting your general anxiety level right back down to zero without the use of any medication or alternative therapies. This technique is based on advanced psychology made simple for everyone to apply.

This fast and effective technique has helped thousands worldwide and is not NLP or hypnosis. It is an advanced cognitive technique born from traditional psychology that everyone can apply regardless of how long the anxiety has been present.

You will not be asked to follow a time consuming 30 step program that will bring only minor improvements. After reading this information you will be able to immediately have confidence to tackle any of the big stresses you may have been putting off e.g. driving, air travel, interviews etc.

Following much feedback, clearly many people experience symptoms similar to these and can relate to some of the stories below.

  • “I have suffered with panic attacks for 15 years and all the counseling, medication and books I have purchased within the 15 years just masked the fear, never eliminated it for good”
  • “Driving now is once again one of the things I feel comfortable and safe doing”
  •  ”I am free of panic attacks and living the teenage life i missed out on over the past few years.”
  • “My hands (palms) were sweating all day long, every day, but now its not anymore!”
  •  ”I was drowned in general anxiety, panic attacks every time I left my house to the point that I never wanted to leave my house.”
  •  ”My chest tightened, I felt like I couldn’t breathe”
  •  ”After a full year of dehabilitating panic! I haven’t had a problem with panic or anxiety-thoughts since the day after I read Panic Away”

If you will let me I will tell you something extremely important about anxiety and panic attacks. This is crucial if you are to seriously begin on the road to full recovery.
This Is The Key To Being Panic Attack Free…

You Must Learn To Break The Fear Of Having Another Panic Attack Or You Will Never Experience Complete Freedom From Anxiety

-The anticipation of a panic attack starts the wave cycle of anxiety in motion.

-The foundation of a future panic attack is laid hours before you actually experience one.

-The slightest stress trigger will then launch the full blown panic attack into motion.

-Panic manifests itself in approximately 20 minute wave like formations.

Mother's Day by gbalogh.

 A Quick Quote

"When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.  A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child".     ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty

A History of Mother's Day

The beginning of mother's day is said to be traced back to spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the Mother of the Gods. During the 1600's, England celebrated a day called "Mothering Sunday". Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent, "Mothering Sunday" honored the mothers of England. The tribute to celebration of the mother's day should be given to Anna Jarvis who first decided to raise awareness of poor health conditions in her community, a cause she believed would be best advocated by mothers. She called it "Mother's Work Day.

At this time many of the England's poor worked as servants for the wealthy. As most jobs were located far from their homes, the servants would live at the houses of their employers. On Mothering Sunday the servants would have the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day with their mothers. A special cake, called the mothering cake, was often brought along to provide a festive touch.

As Christianity spread throughout Europe the celebration changed to honor the "Mother Church" – the spiritual power that gave them life and protected them from harm. Over time the church festival blended with the Mothering Sunday celebration . People began honoring their mothers as well as the church.

In the U.S.A. Mother's Day was first suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic) as a day dedicated to peace. Ms. Howe would hold organized Mother's Day meetings in Boston, Mass ever year.

It was recorded that in 1907 Ana Jarvis, from Philadelphia, began a campaign to establish a national Mother's Day. Ms. Jarvis persuaded her mother's church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mother's Day on the second anniversary of her mother's death, the 2nd Sunday of May. By the next year Mother's Day was also celebrated in Philadelphia.

Ms. Jarvis and her supporters began to write to ministers, businessman, and politicians in their quest to establish a national Mother's Day. It was successful as by 1911 Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state. President Woodrow Wilson, in 1914, made the official announcement proclaiming Mother's Day as a national holiday that was to be held each year on the 2nd Sunday of May.

As many countries of the world celebrate their own Mother's Day at different times throughout the year, there are some countries such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium which also celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May.

Colourful Sydney Mardi Gra Lights Up Sydney

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Sydney partied into the early hours Sunday as Olympic gold medallist Matthew Mitcham led the city's  Mardi Gras through the city's Oxford Street district.

Australia's Mitcham, a diver and the only openly gay winner at the Beijing Games last year, led the parade wearing his gold medal, surrounded by dancers in swimming trunks waving scorecards.

Mitcham said the event had an important message.

"Mardi Gras is the biggest celebration of homosexuality in the world, and aims to promote not just the tolerance but the acceptance of the gay community in the wider community," he said.

A contingent of uniformed police marched in the parade, as did a group of volunteer firefighters from Victoria state who until last week were battling the country's most deadly wildfires.

Around 10,000 marchers took part in the parade, which started in 1978 as a demonstration against police brutality against homosexuals and has transformed itself into a celebration that attracts spectators from around the world.

Hollywood comedienne Joan Rivers received an enthusiastic welcome from the crowd, with other participants on the parade's 135 floats ranging from macho men in leather and studs to flamboyant feather- and sequin-clad drag queens. Among the floats was a tribute to Milk, the gay US politician whose career and 1978 assassination were made into a successful movie for which Sean Penn won a best actor Oscar this year.  See The Full Story Here

Beat Depression – Symptoms and Treatments including Homeopathy

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Depression can affect anyone at any age and could come from any number of causes. Wouldn't it be good to get the facts and learn how to beat it.  Imagine start taking back control of your life!

Depression can be brought on by a severe trauma in a person’s life that they have trouble dealing with. Or depression can just appear seemingly out of nowhere and with no obvious cause. There are a lot of physical problems that are attributed to clinical depression. So if you’re suffering from serious aches and pains and you’ve seen a doctor and the doctor can’t find a physical reason for the pain, the cause might not be physical; it might be mental. The cause might be clinical depression. Depression is not the same for every person who suffers from it. There are, in fact, many different types of depression. Sometimes depression lasts for months or even years and sometimes it lasts only for a few weeks depending on what type of depression you have.

Depression is a psychological condition that has a physical component so generally, unless the psychological condition is treated, the depression will come back over and over again until the underlying psychological problem is dealt with.  Because depression is such a common illness, Western medicine and the big drug companies have created many different kinds of drugs to treat depression. The problem is that not all of these drugs are effective. Even worse, some of these drugs can have serious side effects that include a deepening of depression and even suicidal thoughts. Some drugs can also cause additional psychological problems. The truth is that drugs alone cannot cure depression. The best that drugs can do is to manage the symptoms of depression and many drugs only mask the symptoms.

The fact that depression is such a common problem and because of the serious side effects associated with drug therapy for depression, millions of people are looking to alternative therapies like Homeopathy to manage their symptoms and treat their depression. Homeopathy as a medical practice has been practiced for thousands of years and there is evidence that Homeopathy and other alternative treatments can be effective for managing depression.

Depression is categorized by doctors as a mental health disorder even though it does have physical components. It is a disease; it isn’t “just all in your head” and it is not simply a matter of needing to cheer up. Depression is more than just a feeling of sadness. Depression is usually considered to be a feeling of apathy towards life in general or a feeling of not caring about things that persists for more than two weeks.Depression can be hard to diagnose as a condition because everyone feels sad or apathetic towards life at some time, usually after a major life change or a traumatic event.

There are many different symptoms that are associated with depression and each person experiences those symptoms differently. Because each person responds in a unique way to depression, it can be hard to find a therapy that will help each person deal with the symptoms of depression and people that are suffering from depression may need to try several different medications before finding one that helps them. There are five different types of depression. Some, like clinical depression, can last over a period of years while others like Seasonal Affective Disorder or postpartum depression are relatively short-lived because they are tied to cycles of life. Depression tied to recent life events, such as a tragedy, are also short lived. Depression can also be a symptom of other illnesses. When depression is combined with another illness it can be difficult for doctors to know if the depression is only being caused by the other ailment or if the depression is a separate condition.

Doctors have found that depression is often a problem for people that suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, social phobia, anxiety, panic, and sometimes even substance abuse. People that suffer from depression are statistically more likely to also have substance abuse problems because they will often try to self medicate with drugs and alcohol to alleviate the symptoms of their depression. Since drugs and alcohol actually tend to intensify the symptoms of depression instead of stopping them it becomes a vicious cycle of depression and dependency. People trapped in this vicious cycle usually end up needing treatment for the underlying depression even more than they did before they started trying to get rid of their symptoms with drugs and alcohol. Because each person experiences depression in a different way doctors often have trouble diagnosing depression. Some studies have estimated that more than 15 million people suffer from undiagnosed depression in just the United States alone every year.

The most common causes of depression are childhood trauma, interpersonal problems, prescription medications, trauma, other Illnesses, and substance abuse. So the most likely people to be effected by depression in our community are those………

How celebs get their sleep

Since the death of Heath Ledger, celebrities have aimed to get to sleep as naturally as possible rather than use prescription drugs.By Georgia CassimatisCelebrity nutritionist Philip Goglia recommends that his clients get a deep sleep for even just a few hours a night."The best thing to use is a calcium, magnesium and zinc combination, such as Calcium Magnesium Zinc, it knocks you out," he says. "If you take three of those a night you will have a deep sleep, which means you will release more growth hormone and wake up a little leaner. Not only do you benefit in bone density and bone health, it also relaxes muscle tissue and keeps muscles from cramping."Magic magnesiumCelebrity trainer Eva Barrington says her life changed when she started taking magnesium. "It's found in milk and is a natural sleep aid. I take four pills a night that each contain calcium, magnesium, zinc and vitamin D from a brand called Nature's Life," she says. "The only downside is that you can get a little loose in the stool if you take too much. Simply back off a tablet or halve a tablet and see if it does the trick."As for exercise helping sleep, Eva says to avoid anything strenuous. "Most people stay awake for a couple of hours after exercise. The best exercise is yoga, stretching and meditation. Even 10 minutes of meditation before bed every night helps calm the mind, whereas strenuous aerobic exercise gets your metabolism up and running."Eva recommends doing something every night before bed, whether it be 10 minutes of meditation, a yoga class, pilates class or stretching class.
